I really am awful at keeping up with all of the great Christian books. Whether you’re a Christian or not, you’ve probably heard of C.S. Lewis and either read his books Chronicles of Narnia or watched the movie. I for one have only seen some of the movies and although he has written many books that could challenge me in my faith, I’ve just never gotten around to it. Some of you might even be offended at that… I’m sorry. I told you I’m bad at keeping up with the great Christian books!
But Not a Fan is fantastic. I’m only half-way finished with it, but I’m determined to say it’s a book I’ve read. I found the book on a book list through my church’s blog, Summit Connect and bought the kindle version. Worth every penny… or centime depending on which country you live in (yes this blog will have pathetic bi-cultural humor).
Kyle Idleman did a great job with this book. Starting to write a blog is intimidating, so I’m certain he felt a lot of pressure about how to approach this topic. The book is a bit of a reality check for Christians. He looks you in the face and asks, “Are you a Christian?” But the way he asks it… he isn’t asking what your religious preference is. He’s asking ‘Do you follow Jesus, or don’t you? Are you a fan of Jesus, or a follower?”
